From flexing my copywriter muscles on Shedd's social posts and in Shedd's eNews emails, to managing a 3x viral social campaign in the spring of 2020, my role as Social Media and Content Manager has been quite a, writing about adventuring penguins and adorable otters doesn't hurt. I use content A/B tests in emails and look at reach and engagement numbers on social to plan and post the most engaging content possible. See a few samples of work I'm especially proud of below.

As the Social Media and Content Manager at the Shedd Aquarium, I do all of the following and then some:​

  • Write all social content for Shedd Aquarium's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts, successfully making our voice on social more fun

  • Plan content and write copy for Shedd's email newsletters

  • Oversaw our channels going viral three times in spring 2020, with Twitter and Instagram more than doubling in followers

  • Assist in writing and planning content for my CEO's social channels

  • Create a quarterly plan that outlines themes and important dates every month in a robust content calendar

  • Write paid ads that are run by our advertising partners

  • When needed, advise other departments on social media best practices

  • Work with multiple departments—including PR, animal care, development, and education—to support their corners of Shedd and initiative, to fact-check, to develop interesting content and more 

  • Managed our Social Media Strategist
